5 Quick & Simple Skipping Rope Workouts

How many times do you think of skipping rope when you are trying to think of a great cardio workout? Not very often. I definitely need to get a good skipping rope to try this.

I still remember the days in elementary school when the girls were playing jump rope. This isn’t just for girls though. It’s a great workout for anyone.

Benefits of Skipping Rope

Here are a number of the benefits that you get from skipping rope.

  • It hits so many muscles while also hitting muscles that you don’t usually use.
  • It releases your HGH hormone which helps to burn body fat.
  • Improves your rhythm, timing, reflexes and balance.
  • It’s a great cardio workout that can burn up to 20 calories per minute.

Skipping Rope Workout 1

Alternate:

  • 40 Seconds light skipping
  • 20 seconds double jumps

3 Series (5 sets each)
60 seconds rest between series

Skipping Rope Workout 2

  • 20 seconds left foot
  • 20 seconds right foot
  • 20 seconds running on the spot

3 Series (5 sets each)
60 seconds rest between series

Skipping Rope Workout 3

  • 10 Double Unders
  • 20 Mountain Climbers
  • 10 Double Unders
  • 20 Mountain Climbers

Repeat for 5 circuits, Rest 60 seconds between circuits, Perform as many circuits as you wish.

Skipping Rope Workout 4

  • run on the spot 20 skips
  • 10 half burpees
  • run on the spot 20 skips
  • 10 half burpees

Perform as many circuits as you wish.

Skipping Rope Workout 5

  • 10 double unders
  • 10 pushups
  • 10 double unders
  • 9 push-ups

Continue going till you get down to 1 push-up.
