Types of Cardio Workouts at Home

Cardio workouts at home are a great alternative to going to the gym to workout. Many people choose these because of their lack of time, lack of money, or they aren’t comfortable with working out in front of people. I choose to do my workouts at home because of my lack of time and I don’t enjoy commuting to the gym just to do a quick workouts. The gym can also get quite crowed and a lot of people are just their to chit chat. This keeps me focused on my workout.

There are many different cardio workouts that you can do at home. Here are some of the different types of cardio workouts that you can do at home.

Choices for Cardio Workouts at Home

Machine Workouts

People are still under the impression that they need machines to get a good workout. Just like anything in life everyone turns to machines first before trying the old school method. They feel that to get the same cardio workout as the gym they will need to purchase some big, expensive piece of equipment. Don’t forget that there are also maintenance costs involved with the upkeep of machines. The downside of this is when it breaks down or you get bored of it (which usually happens first), it takes up space or you have a hard time getting rid of it. Maybe you can put some Christmas lights on it and decorate it for the holidays. Many years ago I purchased a treadmill and used it about 10 times. I was under the impression that I could get a great workout and lose all the fat by running while watching TV. It never happened.

Bodyweight Cardio Workouts at Home

Bodyweight Cardio is the new craze for at home cardio workouts. The advantages of bodyweight exercises are that you don’t have to purchase any expensive equipment. Most times you can get by without equipment or just get an exercise mat. You can do these workouts at home, at the park, in your back yard, on vacation or even workout with a friend at their house. You have a lot more options.

If you get bored of your workout then change I up. There are hundreds of bodyweight exercises out there that you can do. Just be creative. Some of the newest bodyweight cardio workouts out there are bootcamp’s, zumba, and other types of aerobic activities.

Finding cardio workouts at home should be an easy task with all those cardio dvd’s and cardio ebook programs out there. Many of them provide you with a large variety of workouts. I tend to get board quickly so I choose to go with the ebooks. Seeing the same thing on the dvd every time I workout starts to make it boring.
